A Grandmother: Mammy

Remembering my incredible grandma on my stepmom’s side who left us this year. She made my birthdays sweet with her frozen strawberry cake and added fun to holidays with intense Uno games. I’ll never forget the Thanksgiving she proudly introduced ‘yurt’ to the dinner table - a word I only knew thanks to my weekly spelling bee.

Her warmth and love linger in memories of celebrations, and I hold dear the times she reminded me, ‘We divorced your dad, we didn’t divorce you.’ Though I haven’t had many opportunities for family moments since then, I cherish every precious memory we created together.
